Here is a list of Definitions we use at Counter-Hack, and many other people over the Internet. If you don't understand a term used in one of our pages, a definition is most likely provided here.

General Terms Hack

A program that alters the way any game works. If changes the textures of the walls, or aims for you, it is a hack. The classification of a "hack" is if it requires another program to be running, or files edited on your system, for it to work. Aimbots, Wall Hacks, Map Hacks, and Speed Hacks are good examples of gaming hacks.

Script
A set of instructions that change variables when certain events are done. Scripts are NOT cheats, unless they exploit something in the game that wasn't meant to be (like the jumping higher, running faster, or being invisable). All headshot "scripts" require an edited .dll to run, making them a hack.

Cheat
A cheat is something that gives you an advantage that you normally wouldn't have.

Exploit/Bug
A trick in the game that wasn't meant to be there. An example is the spectator bug in Counter-Strike, making a person have a weapon as a spectator, killing anyone while moving around like a ghost.

Punk
A person who uses a cheat on a server or league were cheats are not allowed.

Movement Script
A script that edits you movement, allowing you to run a little slower, but silently, or you always jump with a jump, crouch position. These scripts are NOT cheats, but some leagues and servers do not allow them.

Buy Scripts
A script that makes buying easier. When you press a certain button, it buys a certain weapon, ammo, or item. They are not cheats.

Colored Models
Models that aren't realistic, that don't look like they are supposed to, but give the user an unfair advantage. Most colored models are one color, that is bright, allowing you to see them in shadows and such.

Skin Hack
Though its called a "hack", it is really a bug. Its a glitch in the game that allows people to be a team, but have the looks of the opposite team (CT look like a T, T look like a CT).

Spectator Bug
A bug that allows people to respawn, change skins, or kill people in spectator mode. It is an exploit, and it considered a cheat.

Hostage Jump
This is a bug in the game, where it allows you to gain extreme heights, using a hostage. This is an exploit, and is illegal is all leagues.
